VISION / GOALS / PROCESS

Norton Safe Search is a secure search engine that provides users with website safety ratings so they can avoid phishing and other risky internet content. The overall vision for Norton Safe Search was to increase our user base by making sleeker offers via our extension install page, and to enhance the customer experience from end-to-end. Google Chrome was the main target for expanding our user base in 2015 and then onto IE, Firefox, and Safari in 2016-2017.

As lead designer for the product, I successfully combined simple guidance visuals, image driven layouts, and easy to understand flows for users. I created the initial enable all flow for Chrome and ran prototype user tests to get feedback on the process. By creating an enable-all flow that guided users through the installation of our four extensions, I was able to help increase the usage of our search product and triple our revenue for the fiscal years to come. That success pushed me to create smarter guided flows for users in all three major browsers (IE, Firefox, and Chrome).

The UX handholding that we created with users helped us increase our install base exponentially. This justified improving our end-to-end user flow from onboarding dialogs and tutorials to new installation landing pages and search results enhancements. I took ownership of the creation for all of the elements that were included in, but not limited to, the search results page, home page, and portal install pages.

I designed the layouts of each extension website, home page, etc, which includes the typography, graphics, and structure. I did not build the websites, apps, or extensions.
