Death of a Visionary

So, I was riding in the car with my coworker on Tuesday morning. We began talking about Apple and the future of the company (iPhone 4s dropped that day). He explained that Steve Jobs stepped down so that he could just live his life up to the fullest and enjoy it because he had cancer. He also went on to say that Apple will be fine, and they will have some good time before they slow in innovation because they do not have the same great visionary behind the wheel.

Fast forward to Wednesday afternoon, I was sitting at my computer in the office. I went on CNN to see if there was any news on the iPhone 4s. They had a front page story about it being a “flop”. Then, a minute later I received an alert on my iPhone from AP that read “Apple reports that Steve Jobs has died”. I didn’t believe it. We were just talking about him and call the future and then that happened so soon.

I feel motivated by his passing. It seems that, in this age, we don’t have to do as much critical thinking as before. Technology has taken over a lot of tasks for us, and we expect that. I feel like there will be fewer great visionaries in our future. In America, it seems like we do not have to think  for ourselves anymore, but we cannot get lazy. We cannot get comfortable and become stagnant. We must push for new innovative ideas. Technology is growing constantly, and hopefully people see that and continue to be inspired by it.

I think Steve Jobs has left his footprint on our planet in a way that has only become apparent after his passing.

    He will forever be missed.
